    Following up on his debut Prophet from 2020, American artist
    Steve Fokas is back with his second Endangered release: Apollo 89.
    With this new work, Fokas shows off both his multi-instrumentalist
    background, and also how he has evolved as an artist over the last
    couple of years. Brian Cid is thrilled to have Fokas return to the
    label and has added his touch to the tracks by mixing and
    mastering the project. Steve describes the background of Apollo
    89: 'All of these tracks were made during the later half of an
    isolated time at home. Although all the tracks are still very
    melodic, they are a bit more upbeat and groovy with a bit of a
    party element to some of them. Each of these tracks has their own
    unique style and vibe which reflect all the ways I was feeling at
    this time. This was a point where I was still really itching to
    get back out there and be around people, dance, and have a great
    time.' The title track 'Apollo 89' starts things off and launches
    us into orbit with powerful retro-style sounds, snapping claps,
    and rolling arpeggiated synths. High energy, and lush electronic
    melodies occur right away to start this journey, but also a sense
    of restraint exists as there is much more to come. 'Crescent Moon'
    follows and is where the combination of styles from Fokas'
    background starts to shine. There is a tribal and organic vibe
    created with the drums and swing of the track, and the main melody
    has elements of classic techno, but everything is twisted-up and
    electrified with a sci-fi style. There's a driving feel and pull
    created throughout the groove, but still a sense of calmness
    remains and no aggression exists within these smooth beats.
    Euphoria begins to build with 'Night After Night', and on the
    dancefloor this track is where those around you all start to move
    in unison. A subtle, trippy, arpeggiated synth floats in the
    background, and meshes well with the drums to create an incredible
    groove - the main star of this third track. 'Breathe Deeper'
    follows and is true to its name with deepness lying in the
    bassline and the powerful waves of synths that come at you and
    retreat throughout. The trippy melodies give you a sense of being
    in a bright, crystal room, and tension builds in the breakdown
    before being released during the final drop. Full power is reached
    with the second last track 'Midnight Burner'. Rising energy
    engages you back and forth throughout the beats, and with the
    snapping snares & claps creating energy, this is peaktime melodic
    techno at its finest. 'Sleepless BK' is the finale, and like the
    title suggests it will carry you through the night. Deep, powerful
    bass, filters, and an extended breakdown with the wave of synth
    pads brings this melodic journey to an epic conclusion. 'This is
    the next step for me in creating my own brand of dance music that
    fuses together the elements of Techno and House music along with
    the synthy melodic style that I love and creates something
    musically that is groovy, yet emotional. - Steve Fokas
