To mark his debut release on Teklife, Loefah delivers a fittingly
Chicago-influenced EP. The title track revolves around rickety drums,
which provide the backdrop for the Swamp 81 boss to fuse gurgling acid
lines with a stream of consciousness narrative about addiction. Loefah
follows a similar path on "Nines". Instead of the 303, he deploys a
tweaked, lo-fi tone that is designed to work its way into your brain.
Combined with rolling 909s and militaristic snares, it makes for a
hypnotic, primal track. The release also features a remix of "Jump
Start" by the sadly deceased Dj Deeon. In his expert hands, he turns
the original into a killer ghetto house workout.
