        There's something admirable about the way DJ Kaos goes about his       
      business. There's no hype or attempts at PR, just a steady stream of     
     releases for DJs to discover and play. His latest, 'Dirty Ape Trance',    
       is a lightly mind-altering affair where echoing electronic bleeps,      
      mind-mangling noises and minor key chords cluster around a vintage-      
        sounding drum machine rhythm and an undulating, acid house style       
       bassline. The original mix subtly builds throughout, increasing in      
        scale and intensity as the track progresses. On the accompanying       
      remix, he strips things back, wisely concentrating on the percussion     
     (the additional drum machine handclaps and ride cymbals add even more     
                      energy), bassline and creepy chords.
