     This year, Italian outlet Flexi Cuts will celebrate 40 years since the    
     opening of the record store that (eventually) birthed the label, Flexi    
     Dischi. It seems fitting, then, that the label's first release of the     
      year comes from Italian veteran Guido Nemola, who released his first     
     12" way back in 1997. He begins in confident mood via 'The Way (Analog    
      Mix)', a wonderfully woozy chunk of classic-sounding deep house rich     
      in rubbery bass guitar, infectious hand percussion, dreamy pads and      
       echoing horn motifs, before dropping two takes on 'Between You and      
     Me': the delightfully dubbed-out and undeniably soulful excellence of     
      the 'Club Mix', where choice soul-jazz samples and sustained synth-      
      strings rise above a jaunty electronic bassline, and the radio edit      
                              style 'Stream Mix'.
