A few months ago in September, the week before my son was born, my
good friend Tony Tobias (official videographer of Momentom Collective)
came to Tulum. We made the music video to accompany this song produced
last year, it's my own take on the classic medicine song "Madre, te
siento".
My intention in making a cover of this song (as well as the video)
came from pain, frustration and some anger. Feelings that arise when I
see what we are doing to our beautiful Mother Earth with pollution and
endless unconscious expansion & construction. Especially in Tulum
where I have been based the last few years. I made this version of the
song fast and dancy, more suitably played in environments in which the
message of the lyrics might not reach.
The English lyrics are "Mother I feel you under my feet, Mother I feel
your heartbeat,"
Spanish - "Madre te siento bajo mis pies, te siento al ladito de mi
corazon." (Mother I feel you under my feet, I feel you in my heart."
Simple yet powerful.
I have always been passionate about protecting the environment, I
worked in reforestation in Canada and have lived in several
permaculture communities, and now with the birth of my son, bringing
this new being into the world, I feel more passion than ever to raise
awareness around this issue. I know that environmentalism is one of
the main pillars of Envision festival and that is a huge part of why I
am so excited to be a part of this festival this year and to be
releasing this in partnership with them
