On the fourth and final sampler for his forthcoming Spaces & Places
album, Kerri Chandler serves up another big batch of tracks inspired
by, and - using his slimmed-down mobile studio - recorded in, some of
the world's best clubs. As you'd expect given the New Yorker's decades
of experience, the quality threshold remains dizzyingly high
throughout, though there are undoubtedly standouts. 'Sunrise
[Watergate]' is magical: a hypnotic, locked-in-treat tailor-made for
the acclaimed Berlin venue capable of sending shivers down the spines
of even the most sober of dancers. In contrast, DJ Deep's delicious
'Son & Dad Edit' of the bluesy 'Dirty [Rex]' is a guitar-solo laden
nod to St Germain classic 'Alabama Blues', while Chandler's 'Again
Mix' of the Ministry of Sound-inspired Dreamer G collaboration 'Hurry
Up' is a chunky, piano-laden classic-in-waiting with soulful touches
aplenty and a thoroughly memorable bassline. The full album, which
Chandler mixed in Dolby Atmos, will be a real treat.
