Despite the success of a run of releases on Pont Neuf at the turn-of-
the-decade, Kerim Ben Mustapha AKA Kx9000 has been rather quiet of
late. In fact, this outing on LYAM marks the Paris-based producer's
first release of note for over 12 months. It's a wonderfully warming
and sonically attractive affair all told, with Mustapha dousing a
jazz-funk influenced deep house groove in boogie and P-funk flavoured
instrumentation on classy opener 'Sauce Pepe'. He joins forces with
Construction to explore their joint love of synth bass-propelled,
turn-of-the-90s style New Jersey deep house on 'La Locha', before
inviting old pal Toure-Maubourg to sit behind him on the super-smooth
deep house-with-synth-funk-sonics flex of 'April'. To round things
off, he adds twinkling electric piano solos and colourful boogie
synths to a head-nodding, toe-tapping boogie groove on 'Everyw**day'.
