Simon Mills previous EP for Neapolis as One Half of Bent, the Akanaya
EP, was as summery, mood-ehnancing and life-affirming come, with nods
aplenty towards dub disco, deep house, Balearica and Brazilian music.
There's a similarly sundown-ready feel to this delightfully colourful
follow-up, with the Nottingham-based veteran first delivering a dash
of vocal-sporting Balearic deep house/nu-disco fusion (the Flamenco-
guitar sporting smile of 'Alright'), before conjuring up mental images
of open-air Rimini dancefloors of the early '80s on the gorgeous and
sun-soaked 'Bella Bella'. Mills reaches for squelchy boogie sounds on
the sunrise-ready AOR synth-pop of 'Don't Hang Up', before Italian
dream house original Don Carlos delivers a typically deep, atmospheric
and evocative deep house rework of 'Duerme'.
