Shacklo is an excellent example of a talented artist who eschews
publicity in favour of letting the music take centre stage. The
shadowy producer (or producers - we've not been able to find out) is
also selective about what they release, choosing to pop up
occasionally rather than keep up a prolific release schedule. It's a
shrewd move. This ChiWax label debut - Shacklo's most high-profile
release yet - is certainly impressive. Check first title track 'Ku',
where infectious, mid-90s garage-house organ licks rise above crunchy
machine drums, dreamy chords and booming sub-bass, before diving
headfirst into the accurately titled 'How Deep'. 'Summon' is another
fully formed classic deep house vision with added speed garage bass,
while 'Dream' sounds like a pitched-up, tooled-up tribute to
warehouse-ready deep house tunes of the early 1990s.
