On his latest EP, Techu demonstrates why his sound is enjoying such
acclaim in tech house and minimal circles. "Def Not" avoids formulaic
tropes. Focusing instead on a wiry, funk-driven bass, Techu uses this
backdrop to weave in insistent, tripped out tones. He opts for a
different approach on "Slingshot". More musical than "Def Not", its
slinky yet insistent groove is imbued with atmospheric, swirling
synths and niggling acid lines. He may still have a relatively small
catalogue, but this two-tracker shows that we are sure to hear more
and more from Techu - and his irresistibly trippy dance floor sound.
