12 months after dropping their debut as The Church of Love, the
tactile and rushing retro-futurist deep house nostalgia of
'F.R.I.E.N.D.S', Hard Ton and Nico Lahs serve up a similarly
impressive sequel, 'Rising'. In its original form, the track makes
great use of dark, moody Michigan bass, lo-fi machine drums, starry
synth stabs (mixed hard right to mangle minds out on the dancefloor)
and short, sharp vocal samples. It comes accompanied by four fine
remixes, too. Windy City veteran Gene Hunt re-imagines it as a TB-303
powered chunk of lo-fi acid madness; DJ Soch gives it a deeper and
more intergalactic flavour; the 'Love in the Morning' mix is a dreamy,
sunrise-ready treat; and the Girls of the Internet version is ultra-
deep and dubbed-out with a Sprinkles-esque enveloping, immersive vibe.
